Art needs space — An artistic intervention that draws attention to the planned construction of the Visitor and Information Center (BIZ) and its potential impact on the campus and the Academy. For the International Building Exhibition 2027 (IBA'27), the BIZ will be built directly in front of the entrance to the Academy's listed building, the only open side of the Weißenhof campus. The building will be up to nine meters high and have a floor area of 1,200 square meters. How the new building will change the access to the academy, how it will affect the needs of the university in terms of visibility and appearance, and how it will relate to the academy's listed buildings are the central questions that concern the members of the ABK. Reflecting the idea that "art needs space," the animation takes up its own space within the boundaries, creating room for new artworks to emerge through its movement. The resulting artworks are only a small selection of the diverse submissions from students across all faculties of the Academy. A selection of 100 artworks were also printed on posters and displayed on a 9x9 meter printed graphic during the artistic intervention. The animation was created both as an intro for the screening and as a poster animation.
